ICCT - An Intercultural
Network of Networks

We believe that cultural diversity is a gift from God. We aim to create an intercultural network of networks and an environment where cultural differences are embraced, celebrated and utilised to transform the church and the city. We aim to break down barriers, build bridges and foster intercultural collaboration by promoting understanding and unity.

The goal is to create culturally inclusive spaces where individuals from diverse backgrounds can come together, learn from one another, and work towards building a harmonious and culturally inclusive community

THE JOURNEY  - CONVERSATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

2023 City-Wide Consultations with Leaders

The vision for an intercultural church and city transformation begin in 2012, sparked by the beauty, opportunity and questions raised after the 2012 London Olympics. As Chair of the London Baptist Mission Strategy Forum, Osoba Otaigbe spent years exploring how churches can engage meaningfully with cultural diversity in their communities during and after the Olympics. Apart from that recentlty, there were other networks that began to explore how churches can embark on this journey.

In 2023, we held conversations across seven cities, these conversations revealed a widespread desire for such a church. It became clear that God was stirring hearts for a movement where people from all backgrounds could come together to connect, worship, and support one another.

In February 2025,  over 200 Church and Charity Leaders met to Launch free Intercultural Church and City Transformation Learning Journey and Resource Toolkit. The London gathering provided a space for leaders to explore the role of intercultural churches in shaping communities, emphasizing the biblical call to love one another. Discussions highlighted the need to avoid viewing any single cultural expression of Christianity as the only valid perspective. Instead, attendees were encouraged to embrace diverse traditions, recognizing that each culture contributes uniquely to the Church. Using the metaphors of the temple and the body, participants were reminded that true unity comes from diverse cultural expressions working together, each offering valuable gifts and perspectives.

In January 2024, more than 150 church, charity, and community leaders gathered in Leeds to explore two key questions:  What would an intercultural church look like in our cities and towns?  What impact could we have if we worked together for Christ’s sake?

At the end of the gathering, we published key insights, highlighting the obstacles to overcome and the potential for positive change.  A defining moment of the event was the intercultural worship—a powerful expression of unity where people from diverse backgrounds came together in praise, blending different musical traditions, languages, and styles of worship.
